Recess & Play, LLC is part of Athens Kids Collective which is located in Athens, Georgia (USA). AKC is a hub for parents which meets the needs of children and their families through speech therapy, mental health services, and tutoring. We also host professional character entertainment for your family and community celebrations! We are five female owned small businesses under one roof and proud to serve Athens-Clarke County,GA & the surrounding counties!
What do we do?
We provide tutoring for a wide range of student needs. We make learning fun and that helps the learning “stick”. We provide coaching for schools and districts. This includes easing sites away from worksheets and technology as well as supporting literacy, math, classroom mgt and socio-emotional learning. And we provide advocacy for families. Parent conferences? IEP meetings? Let us support you!

About Dr. Brickman
Founded by Charlene Woodham Brickman, PhD, Recess & Play was born out of advocacy for children to have a daily unstructured recess during the school day that is protected as a right of childhood.
A career educator, Dr. B began R&P in 2021, but began the work long before that. She has been a teacher, instructional coach, and an administrator and knows how the school setting works.
However, of more importance, 37 years in the field have shaped her philosophy on young children and what they truly need in order to be successful learners. She considers herself “a creative problem solver with cheap magic up her sleeve”.
